Last Light

One of many things that I liked about Terri Blackstock book Last Light is that it showed me that I was not ready in case of any disaster.

If the world where to end today would I be ready? For the Branning family they found out that they where not ready for such thing. They have to learn how to survive, how to get along without power and without the day to day life they are use it. But not only to the have to learn how to survive without power they come to find out that there is a killer among them.

I have to say the book started a little slow but it picked up really quick. This book will no disappoint and leaving you guessing. I highly recommend this book.

I want to thank Thomas Nelson for my free copy of this book.

Intentional Walk

As the game of baseball is facing another go around with steroids use it nice to be able to read something positive about the game.  In his new book Intentional Walk by Rob Rain gives us the hope that there is still some good in the game.

Intentional walk is about the St Louis Cardinals players and coaches and how they have brought the Christian believes together.   This book takes each person and talks about how they found God in their life and how they apply it to the lives.

I really enjoyed this book. I have a great love for the game of baseball and I great love for God and this book talks about both.  I want to thank Thomas Nelson Booksneeze program for my free copy of this book in exchange for my review.

7 Men by Eric Metaxas

Manhood and Heroism are not terms that are used into day’s world as much as was back 50 years or so. The men of WWII gave home where men and hero’s. We look at them even today and they command that type of respect without even asking for it. But it sad today to see men portray as “dumb, stupid or careless” Do get me wrong I have seen many that are all three. But no all men are that way but that is how Hollywood and the media wants to portray us. But thanks to Eric Metaxas new book 7 Men and the Secret of Their Greatness. I feel he give men hope again.
Eric takes 7 great men and gives you a short bio of their life. He said in the book that he could have picked more and could have picked 7 other but when with these because of their success. Each bio talks about how these men became great and what made them great. Jackie Robinson taking on the role to be the first black man to play Major league baseball is was not easy for him and he knew it going into, but because of his greatness many of the same race now play baseball and Jackie is honored in every MLB baseball park with his number 42 retired.

George Washington was slated to be become King George I of America. But turned it down and later took the role as the first president of this country. Role he didn’t want but took because he knew he had too.

I could go on, but I suggest you read this book. I highly recommend this book to men and women.

Thanks to Thomas Nelson for my free advanced copy of this book. This review was give for and exchange for the free book and my thoughts on this book are mine and mine alone.

The Legend of the Monk and Merchant is a book that I really was hoping would be better then it was. The back of the book has a line that states: “The Legend of the Monk and Merchant will change the way you see yourself, your job and your purpose.” I read the book and I don’t see where any change will take place. Maybe I didn’t read it right, maybe I miss the point of the book I don’t know. I really wish that I could say more about this book but there really isn’t much to say. The book is a simple read one that can be read in a couple of days. This is just my view of the book, I sure other will find its meaning and get what they want you to get from it. For me I miss it I guess. Thanks to Thomas Nelson and the Booksneeze program for my free copy of this book. The book was give to me free for an honest review and this review is mine alone.

I have always seen Rich Warren book The Purpose Driven Life at the book store. I never pick it up to see what it was all about. But when Booksneeze offered Rick update and revised edition I jumped at the offer. And I glad I did. Rick stated in at the first of the book “this is more then a book it is a guide to a 40-day spiritual. He also asked not to just read the book through like a novel but to read each day (chapter) and ponder on what you have read. That is just want I did. I took my time with this book and I would like to share a couple of day’s(chapter) that I really enjoyed reading. Day 11 “Becoming Best Friends whit God” He started the day with “God want to be your best friend.” I mean he could have very well end the day right there. God want to become my friend? How true that is. Best friend share everything together and help each other and there is not anger between the two. So it makes perfect sense that God would want to become my friend. Day 23 “How We Grow” Again he starts the day of with a simple statement “ God want you to grow up” God want us to mature and be more like Christ. Grow each day and make ourselves better in Christ. Take his name upon us and act and do has He would. This book is really good and I highly recommend that you read it and to what Rick tells you to read a chapter a day and ponder over it. It will change your life and it will bring you closer to God. Thank you Thomas Nelson for my advance copy of this book, and in exchange for the free copy I have written a review of my own accord.
